I have a dodge 2000 grand caravan sport. The advice i got here was that my thermostat might be stuck in the open position, is the only way to fix this to replace it? And also is this a big job, i have done some work on cars but not this 1. Thanxs again for the help, Andy

That is not a very difficult job. But what are the problems you are having that makes you think the thermostat is stuck open? Is the guage reading low on temperature? Low heat output? Please give us a little background on the vehicle and we can offer more advice. Thanks for finding and using our little forum.

Hi Andy glad to see you here. I assume your the same person from the other site. Tom’s right that it’s not that difficult to do, just start out with a cold engine so that you’re not dealing with hot coolant. Take your time watching which way the old stat is sitting so that you install the new one the same way. Only drain enough coolant to be below the stat housing that’ll help when refilling the system and hopefully avoid an air lock. We’re here most of the time so if you get stuck on something, let us know. Dan.
