Speed/odometer issues...

The ol' 94 Caprice is acting up again..After a short run time, the digital read speedometer and odometer suddenly disappear...strangely, the trip odometer is un-affected... After a while 5-10 minutes, the numbers magically re-appear, and speedometer seem to be accurate. The odometer, on the other hand will show 8986689 miles or flash error...There seems to be no rhyme or reason to why this happens. Moisture/rain, vibration/pothole, speed or light switch positions seem to have nothing to do with this issue ...

Any ideas or thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like the transducer, the device that converts the rotary motion of the gears into a digital readout, is failing. I'd go to a dealer, ask what they think, then replace it.----IDOL
