When it rains its pours, Just had an oil change on my avalanche and after requesting 30 point inspection the tech found that I had what he called a missing "wheel bearing hub cover/cap missing on the front driver wheel. Well after calling service department they quoted $2.70 but they came in package of 5 which I had 2 buy before they could order, well I went to an auto part store and the cap or cover is not what I see on the other wheel. What is this part called? it is on the inside of the wheel under truck there is a hollow silver gap which appears to need a cover or cap the other side that is intact reads "do not remove this is a nonservicing part or something to that affect it is round strurdy metal material which looks llike it seals/ locks something in. Tech said without this the grease in the bearings is released and could result in costly repairs but they want to sell me the entire assembly is there a name for the one cap or cover because $2.70 does not seam right and what I was shown does not look like the one intact......HELP!!!!

the cap is simply called a bearing cap and it really doesn't matter what it looks like as long round in shape and fits snugly into the rotors. If you would be talking about the part that goes in the center of a chrome or aluminum rim and not the rotor, that is called a center cap and could be just about any design but will be generally round
