2000 Chrysler Voyager 3.0 liter v6 auto 105 k miles
About 1 year ago we replaced the transmission with a rebuild one.($1500) The last months it has been using(burning) a lot of oil. It was not leaking at all so i assume it burned it. Last week it was very low on oil...about 2 quarts and my wife started the car and she came in worried that the car sounded like a diesel engine with rattles/knocks. I put in 2 quarts of oil and brought it to the local mechanic shop. He told me that it was burning oil and in need of a valve job($1000)
We've discussed about putting more money in the car versus buying another used one...
Can ayone tell me that the engine itself might have been damaged(knocking sound) and the valve job will not cure this? Or is it the valves that are knockin?
Any reactions/concern will be greatly appreciated
Ron
