Hi mad, I might be mistaken, but humour me for a minute. If I remember correctly, the french auto makers tend to add a lock tab to all their wiper arms. I can remember several citoren's and renault that were brought to me when the owners were simply trying to change the entire arm for one reason or another. So with the lock nut(s) removed lift the wiper arm to it's fully extended position and look carefully around the base near the center where the shaft comes through for a small lock tab. If it's there, you'll need a small common (flat head) screwdriver to push the tab off the shaft. This should unlock the arm and you can then lift it off. Unless the french have changed their wiper arm manufacturing process in the past years, hopefully the above will help you solve the problem. Let us know what you find............we are here to assist if you need us further......IDOL

no such luck i have looked all over the area at the bottom of the arm & can't find a lock tab anywhere & it still won't budge. i don't want to pull too hard incase i bend something.

Hi mad, Hummm, well if there isn't a lock tab, and you have removed the lock nut, then the next thing I would do, if it were in my shop, would be to soak the arm at the mount shaft with some penetrating oil for a few hours, and then using a small piece of cloth , small block of soft wood and a fairly long shanked , flat type screwdriver, I'd very carefully work the tip of the screwdriver around the arm base and try to pry the arm up. Use the wood as a fulcrum to aid you and the cloth to pad the painted surfaces. Just a word of caution, be very careful working around your windshield try not to pry or put pressure on windshield. Mad, I did check with a couple freinds of mine who are also familiar with Renault and they indicated that they would try to , very carefully pry it off. Try this and came back to let us know the result......meanwhile I'm hitting the books for you and hopefully, I'll be back with a better process...... if the is one......IDOL

Hello Mad, I have just reviewed the online manual for the clio. Here is what the book recommends. "Lift the arm straight up, apply steady pressure athe the base. The arm will lift off."
Soo looks like it's just slightly corroded in place. Try the procedure I mentioned in my earlier post. ................................. We'll be here, IDOL

You may be able to use a small battery terminal puller to assist in removal of arms. This will give you constant pressure for removal.

Good point Way2Old, I hadn't thought of that. But your right using a terminal puller would be much smarter. IDOL
