1995 Nissan Altima GXE check engine lights is on. The milage is 12000 miles. But I still can drive at speed of 65 mile or higher on the highway.
I took the car to the shop. and they told me that the problem is from oxygen sesnor and knock sensor. they wanna charge me around 500 bucks.
Is it reseaonable?
if i want to DIY. is it difficult and how to ?
appreciate for your reply.

Hi Huarenus, let me begin by saying that I agree with your mechanic. If you brought your vehicle to me, the first question I'd ask you is if you had changed to O2 sensors yet. If you tell me you had not, then my recommendation to you would be to change the senors. If you change the O2 sensors I think you'll find your problem will disappear. Next is the knock sensor!! I would never recommend changing the knock sensor unless you have told me that you're experiencing a fuel usage problem, and that you have already changed the O2 sensors. As for the cost...well all I can say is, stay away from the knock sensor replacement unless it MUST be done, and only replace the O2 Sensors. This should reduce the cost by quite a bit. Finally, let me say here, that if you have the skill or if you have a freind who has the talent or skill and you purchase the O2 sensor removal socket you can swap all the O2 sensors right in your garage, or driveway or yard......Let us know what you decide we'll be here.
