I am tuning up my daughter's Saturn which is missing and the service engine soon light is on. When I pulled the first plug wire, there is 2 inches of oil in the tube! First I am thinking cracked or broken ring, and then the compression stroke is pushing oil up around the threads of the plugs. Any ideas otherwise?

Not reaally familiar with Saturns, but don't they have O rings in the valve cover where the spark plug goes through? If I am wrong someone will correct this. Probably DanD.

Tom’s right on the money here, when you lift the valve cover off; you’ll see the seals that Tom has mentioned. They sort of sit at the top of the spark plug well and they seem to get hard and shrink with time and heat. Even after replacing them I would put a thin smear of silicone on their face; just for a bit of added insurance for them not to leak again. Also have a good look at the spark plug wire boots; the oil will turn them into snot and they’ll loose their insulating quality; allowing the spark to ark to the side of the spark plug well. Dan.

Typical for Saturn. The seal rings under the valve cover tend to dry out over time and leak really badly resulting in oil getting into the sparkplug chambers. I agree with my colleagues, replace the valve cover gasket and seal rings.
