Does the engine still have a miss? How long has it been since the wires were changed? I would suspect a bad wire before a fuel injector. Were the codes erased after the plug was changed? Not to be sarcastic, but did you change the correct plug? I have seen a lot of techs forget where the correct cylinder is. #5 should be front plug on drivers side.

Yes it still misfires, No the wires cannot be changed, they are part of the wiring harness, this is a "Mod Motor" it does not have a Distributor so to speak, but gets the signal from a sensor on the crankshaft, and yes I did change the correct plug and test the correct individual coil.

What threw me off was the model year. All of our 97 150's have wires and coil packs. Sorry. Look real closely at the coil boot for any signs of cracks or the spark jumping through the side of the boot to the block. If it is arcing through the boot, you will see a small burn mark on the boot. Squeeze the bottom of boot and see if there are cracks that appear, If there are cracks, replace the boot also.

LETS TALK ABOUT THE SAME VEHICLE. 1997 fORD f150, 2WHEEL DRIVE, V6 engine. The right lower balljoint seems to squeak like crazy. The rubber seals around it look good, I did the pry bar test to see if their was slop in the joint, but it appeared tight. I used a mechanics stethescope and check all of the control arm and torsion bar rubber bushings for noise while someone turned the steering wheel while the vehicle was parked, but the engine running. When I put the scope on the castlenut end of the lower ball joint, the noise was the loudest of any of the points I touched on the right side suspension. Does this mean the ball joint is bad? I sprayed PB blaster on the joint, and worked the wheel a bunch to work it in, it quieted up for about a day, but its a squeaky as ever. There is not a zerk fitting on the joint to apply grease. So, my question is, does the joint need replaced, and if so, is this one that is part of the lower control arm where you have to buy the entire control arm and not just a seperate ball joint. Thank You all for the help. I always enjoy coming to your site! Mark G/Jax FL

Mark heres a secret tip . Go to napa and get a needle tip for your grease gun. It looks just like a large hyperdermic needle that they give shots with. stick it through the seal and as close to the center of joint as possible. fill bladder with grease .You will have a tinnie weanie hole and a tiny amount of grease may leak out but in a few miles the squeek will be gone. Remember its a secret.

If re-tired's suggestion doesn't last long, the ball joint can be replaced by itself. You do not need the control arm. Re-tired's suggestion has fixed quite a few of the squeaks though.
