We have just been notified of a broken subframe retainer on our 98 Windstar (3.8L). We were told the entire subframe needs replacement. The part alone is over $1400 and labor could be as much as $700. W/ 135K miles on the vehicle we are reluctanct to sink that much back into it. We were hoping that there would be somebody out there who would deal w/ this part in the aftermarket, w/ a reduced price. Does anyone know of anybody who could help?
Thanks,
John

Arggh! I've have a zillion cars a lot older than that with rusted frame parts and was always able to get them fixed by a good body shop or welder. If some sub frame part is broken it shouldn't be that hard to do. Rust is a real pest but they still did it.
If it's broken from some kind of accident that isn't covered used would be the way to go.
Good luck with the fix at a reasonable cost and Happy New Year!! Tom

www.uneedapart.com/ They link up salvage yards all over and can find just about anything you need. They deal with lots of yards in the southern US - lots of rust-free stuff. Shipping to Canuckistan shouldn't be a problem.
