I want to change my tranny fluid in my 96 3-speed geo prizm. The book says the following:
Transaxle automatic (drain and refill) three speed..................................2.6 qts differential.............................1.5 qts
So if I just drain the fluid out of the transaxle pan, how much fliud will I need to add. 2.6 qts? Thanks in advance, Alan

I would start off with 2 qts, then start and warm the engine until the rad fan cycled. Run the shifter through all the gears and then in small amounts top the transmission until it’s at the full hot mark of the dip stick, being careful not to over fill. You probably already know this but the differential has it’s own drain and fill plugs. To refill the dif, you keep adding fluid until its level with the bottom of the fill plughole. Both the trans and diff use Dexron-II fluid. Dan.
