Model : VW Golf 1400cc 8 valaves Injection 60BHP 5 Speeds Manual
An unusal thing as just begin happening when starting the car. The engine goes up to 3000 rpm for about 5 seconds and than goes right back to idle speed around 1000 rpm. This thing can also repeat itself while the engine is cold , and will stop completely when the engine is in working normal temps. When starting up the A/C even if the engne is cold this malfunction will never happen.
Besides that the starting of the car is very difficult and it usauly takes the starter about 5 seconds to start the engine.
Thank you for your time,
Liran

Sorry but I’m to familiar with VW’s so I won’t be of much help, maybe one of the others could shed some light on this. The only thing you could try and it wont hurt anything is to clean the throttle bore and the throttle plates. There maybe a bunch of soot restricting airflow and the computer is going nuts trying to figure out how to get the idle to stabilize. Just a guess. Dan.
