Hi there Could you tell me why a vehicle woul stall out while being driven. This vehicle has a 3.8 litre engine, fuel injected. This particular car has been sitting for 1 to 2 years and the battery has since died.If the battery was to be replaced would the computer be able to reprogramme itself Or would a mechanic have to do this and if so how long would that take.Any help you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

After one or two drive cycles on that year of vehicle the computer would relearn all of its functions as long as everything is working as intended. Dan.

As to why the vehicle would stall while driving there a lot possible answers to that question. We would need to know if this happens at a stop or while stopping or while at a steady speed. Does the engine restart easily or do you have to wait? If you have to wait to restart, is the engine cranking over at normal speed? If so do you have spark, proper fuel pressure and injector pulse? If it cranks over normally one or more of theses is missing. You said the battery needs to be replaced, is the charging system working properly?
Sorry, we need more info to help you with the stalling problem.
