Hey all. How do you reset the service light(not service Engine Soon)? It is a 1996 Saturn SC/2 1.9L engine. Thought it was like regular GM, but it doesn't work. Thanks all you great minds and Soapers.

If you mean the maintenance reminder I believe there’s a reset button in the under hood power distribution box, on the newer ones anyway I went through Mitchell and they don’t seem to mention it anywhere let alone telling you how to reset it. What was saturn’s sale pitch when they first came out “A Different Kind Of Company” LOL Dan.

Not sure if it is the maintenance reminder or not. the person that owns it says it comes on after driving it for about 30 to 40 miles or it maynot come on at all duting a 100 mile trip. All reminder lights I have seen come on during initial start up and goes out after a few minutes. I told him to find the black tape. ;D Oh yeah, he also said there is an icon beside it that looks like a wrench. I know it is not the service engine soon cause I saw it come on. The other one does not show during key on or on initial start up.

I was thinking about this last night and the light is probably for either a body or chassis malfunction indicator. I know a real GM have them but I’m not sure if one of it’s bastard sons do or not. Scan the thing and see if there are any pending codes in chassis or body. Dan.

Thanks guys. There are codes in the vehicle. He told me the codes, but at my age, thay are gone now. He supposed to call back with them. Funny thing is the light is supposed to do a self check at start up, but it will not do it. It only comes on after driving a while. I think one of the codes was a 1299 for a variable orifice

I think we cured this thing. Owner told me the air bags had been blown and it sorta steers funny on the road. That sparked something called EVO in the old brain. So the variacle orifice is the electronic steering sensor. He finally daid it darts on the road and that set off a light. So actually there is no soap needed. Thanks for the input guys. See ya. ;D ;D
