Howdy Gents, hope all is well.
I have a nagging problem with a serpentine belt on a 2000 Dodge Caravan 3.2 LTR V6. I have replaced the belt, tensioner pulley, and idler pulley in order to try and keep this engine from slinging off the belt. It only slings the belt off when it is raining, and water is underneath the vehicle. I also have ensure that the slash guards under the vehicle are all in place, as well as the drain tube from the the windshield cowling is in place and free of obstruction. I thought it could be that, becasue the cowling drain spout is right above the alternator pully, but the tube attached is clear and water drains away just fine.
My other thought is that it appears to sling the belt when you turn the steering wheel, and put a load on the pwer steering pump, as if while under a load, the pump want to drag, and it can't keep up with the crank pulley. I took it to 2 garages, and they can not figure it out either....Time for a new car, or just don't drive it when it rains. It only does it when it rains.
I appreciate any thoughts you guys have!
Best Regards
Mark G

There is a pulley made that has a shoulder on it to cure that problem. We have a few of those vehicles that we have changed the pulleys on and the problem has dissappeared.

That is great to hear. I will see if I can track a part number down somewhere for a couple of pulleys to replace the ideler and tensioner pulley, they are both the same size. I appreciate your advice. Take Care!
