i have a 00 honda hatchback dx.w/a tec distributor.Having problems with the ignition.cap and rotor seems to be corroding faster then usual.and having problems with hesitations and lack of power.also idle is jumping when driving and when at idle.i thought it would be the coil,so i replace it,also the wires and plugs.i think its in the distributor were the wirings to the igniter is connected wrong or something i connected is causing electrical problems.

Is the corrosion of the cap & rotor on the terminals themselves or is it a build of rust inside the cap? Is the engine speed actually jumping or is it just the tachometer jumping? Here’s an image of the wire connections on the igniter.

Here's a diagram of the ignition circuit wiring.

It's the terminals themselves thats corroding.the speed tach is the only thing jumping.the car feels like its not fully accelerating when i press the gas pedal down to the metal.it always lags and hesitates when driving.the power is not their.I had it tested on a trouble code reader and it said 02 sensors are faulty.also the white and blue wire thats hooked up to the ignition module is also connected to were the blue wire is supposed to hook up.is that wrong.i check the wires on the distributor and their is no plain blue wire. Also right above the oil filter is a wire that looks like a little rubbber bell, that has only one wire attached to it.mines is disconnected.if you could tell me what that wire is for. THANKS FOR YOUR DIAGRAM ,REALLY APPRECIATE IT.KEEP ME POSTED.I DONT WANT THIS CAR TO GET ANY MORE PROBLEMS CAUSE ITS DAILY DRIVEN.

That singal wire with the bell shaped rubber boot on it sounds like the oil pressures sending unit wire. Does the oil pressure gauge or light work? Dan.

All of the diagrams I can find show a blue wire on the Tec dist. As the diagram shows it runs from the igniter to the tachometer and the test connector. It also goes to the transmission control module on auto trans vehicles. That loose wire may go to the knock sensor which is located to the left of the oil pressure switch.

Hey guys,I check the disconnected wire and i'm pretty sure that its the oil pressure sending switch.I went online and check how the switch may look like.the results were obvious.the needle tip on the oil pressure tip looks like it would fit on the end of that loose wire.

I was wondering would the oil pressure switch be the cause of my check engine light being on.the switch is missing so i'm going to replace real soon.

I don’t believe the computer monitors the oil pressure so it would not cause the check engine light to come on. What trouble code do you have? If the oil pressure switch is actually missing oil would be shooting out of the fitting in the block anytime the engine was running. How many sending units do you have near the oil filter?

jus one..I actually found the oil pressure switch but that wire that connects to it is disconnected. And my trouble codes are about faulty 02 sensors .My car is running rich,is there anything to do to resolve it.I changed the air filter, plugs, rotar.still no difference.I think it maybe my 02 sensors so i'm looking into replacing those soon.i'l keep posted.THANKS.... If the O2 sensors are actually bad then replacing them would be necessary to correct a fuel mixture control problem. What trouble code numbers do you have stored in the computer?

all i know is that it indicated a rich mixture.Running Rich..

If you have trouble codes indicating an excessively rich mixture and the engine is indeed running too rich the O2s are probably not at fault. It sounds more like they are just doing their job by reporting the rich fuel mixture. If the engine is actually running too rich you’ll need to look for excessive fuel pressure, an out of range coolant temp sensor, MAP sensor problems, etc, etc.
